Lucy Hamilton Jones Hooper (18351893)
Hooper, Mrs. Lucy Hamilton (Jones). An American poet, novelist, and journalist: born in Philadelphia, Jan. 20, 1835; died in Paris, Aug. 31, 1893. She was for some time assistant editor of Lippincott’s Magazine. Her husband being United States viceconsul-general in France, she resided after 1874 in Paris, where she was correspondent for several American newspapers. She wrote: ‘Poems’ (1864 and 1871); and the novels ‘Under the Tricolor’ (1880) and ‘The Tsar’s Window’ (1881).
