Madame de Puisieux (17201798)
Puisieux, Madeleine d’Arsant (pwē-syė’). A French woman of letters; born at Paris, 1720; died in the same city, 1798. Her chief works are: ‘Advice to a Friend’ (1749–50); ‘Characters’ (1750–55); ‘Zamor and Almanzine’ (1755); ‘Alzarac; or, The Necessity of Being Inconstant’ (1762); ‘The History of Mademoiselle de Terville’ (1768); etc.
