Hopkins, Mark. A distinguished American educator and religious and ethical writer; born at Stockbridge, MA, Feb. 4, 1802; died at Williamstown, MA, June 17, 1887. He was a Congregational divine, and president of Williams College. Among his works are: ‘Evidences of Christianity’ (1846); ‘The Law of Love, and Love as a Law’ (1860); ‘An Outline Study of Man’ (1873); etc.
