Meleager of Gadara (First Century B.C.)
Meleager (mel-e-ā’jėr). A Greek poet; born at Gadara, Palestine; flourished about the middle of the first century B.C. He is best known as a writer of epigrams on love; and by his ‘Stephanos’ (Garland), a compilation made up of short poems taken from the writings of some forty poets, alphabetically arranged, with an introduction in verse by himself.
