Merlin
Merlin (mer’lin). A Welsh bard and magician supposed to have lived in the fifth century. In the twelfth century Geoffrey of Monmouth gave a Latin translation of the ‘Prophecies,’ and a ‘Life of Merlin.’ He is an important personage in most versions of the Arthurian story. The Welch have a half-dozen patriotic poems ascribed to “Myrddhin.”
