Nahum Capen (18041886)
Capen, Nahum (kā’pen). An American historical writer; born at Canton, MA, 1804; died in 1886. Postmaster of Boston (1857–61), he introduced street letter-box collections. He wrote: ‘The Republic of the United States’; ‘History of Democracy’ (1874); etc. He also wrote and edited works on phrenology.
