Nikoléï Akhsharumov (1819–1893)
Achsharúmov, Nikoléï Dmitriyevich (äch-shä-rö’mōf). A Russian novelist and critic; born in St. Petersburg, Dec. 15, 1819; died in 1893. Among his successful novels are: ‘The Double’ (1850); ‘The Gambler’; ‘The False Name’; ‘An Unusual Case’; and ‘The Model.’ As a critic he attracted attention by his comments on the writings of Herbert Spencer, Tolstoy, Turgenev, Dostoyevsky, etc.
