Oscar Blumenthal (1852–1917)
Blumenthal, Oscar (blö’men-täl). A German dramatist and critic; born in Berlin, March 13, 1852; died in 1917. Sprightliness of dialogue is the most distinguishing character of his plays; the most successful of them are: ‘The Big Bell’; ‘A Drop of Poison’; ‘The Black Veil’; ‘Severe Masters.’ He published several volumes of critical and miscellaneous essays.
