Petar Preradović (1818–1872)
Preradović, Petar (prer-ä-dō’vich). The most eminent of modern Croatian lyric poets; born at Grabonitza, March 19, 1818; died on Aug. 18, 1872. He wrote: ‘Firstlings,’ a collection of short poems (1846); ‘New Songs’ (1851); ‘The First Men’ and ‘The Slavic Dioscuri,’ epics.
