Philipp Galen (1813–1899)

Galen, Philipp (gäl’en), pseudonym of Ernst Philipp Karl Lange. A German novelist; born in Potsdam, Dec. 21, 1813; died in 1899. He was for years an army physician. He wrote: ‘The Island King’; ‘The Madman of St. James’; ‘Fritz Stirling,’ a practicing physician’s adventures; ‘Walther Lund’; ‘The Diplomat’s Daughters’; and ‘Free from the Yoke.’
