Richard Malcolm Johnston (1822–1898)
Johnston, Richard Malcolm. An American story-writer and essayist; born in Hancock County, GA, March 8, 1822; died in 1898. His studies of character and manners in Georgia began to appear shortly after the war. Noted for humor and realism are his ‘Dukesborough Tales,’ ‘Old Mark Langston,’ and ‘Ogeechee Cross-Firings.’ (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
