Robert Bridges (18581941)
Bridges, Robert. An American essayist and critic, writing under the pseudonym “Droch”; born in Shippensburg, PA, July 13, 1858; died in 1941. He was assistant editor of Scribner’s Magazine after 1877, literary critic of Life after 1883. He wrote: ‘Overheard in Arcady,’ dialogues about contemporary writers; ‘Suppressed Chapters and Other Bookishness’; ‘Bramble Brae’ (1902).
