Saint Bonaventura (c. 12171274)
Bonaventura, Saint (bō”nä-ven-tö’rä). An Italian theologian and scholar; born at Bagnarea about 1217; died in 1274. His real name was Giovanni di Fidanza. His writings include: ‘Life of Saint Francis’; ‘Progress of the Mind towards God’; ‘Breviloquium’; and many sermons and treatises on theological subjects. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
