Theophilus Hunter Hill (18361901)
Hill, Theophilus Hunter. An American writer of verse; born near Raleigh, NC, 1836; died in 1901. He was a lawyer in Raleigh, and was once State librarian. He wrote ‘Hesper and Other Poems’ (1861), distinguished as being the first book copyrighted by the Confederate government; ‘Poems’ (1869); ‘Passion Flower and Other Poems’ (1883); etc.
