Thomas Christian Tychsen (17581834)
Tychsen, Thomas Christian. A German Orientalist; born at Horsbyll, Silesia, May 8, 1758; died on Oct. 23, 1834, at Göttingen, where he was professor of theology. He wrote: ‘Principles of Hebrew Archæology’ (1789); ‘Grammar of Literary Arabic’ (1823); and several essays on ‘Numismatics,’ ‘Palæography,’ ‘The Poetry of the Arabs,’ etc.
