Thomas Edward Brown (1830–1897)
Brown, T. E. An English poet; born at Douglas, Isle of Man, in 1830; died at Clifton, Oct. 30, 1897. He was a clergyman of the Church of England, and had made a special study of manners and people in the Isle of Man, where he was stationed. His poems comprise narratives in the Manx dialect, and personal lyrics and elegiacs. The most notable are: ‘Betsy Lee’; ‘Fo’c’s’le Yarns’; ‘The Manx Witch’ and ‘The Doctor.’
