Vicente Bacallar y Sanna (1669–1726)

Bacallar y Sanna, Vicente, Marquis of St. Philip (bäk’ä-lär ē sän’yä). A Spanish historian and statesman; born in Sardinia; died in Madrid, 1726. He served the King of Spain with less disinterestedness than distinction during the revolt of his native isle, and was ennobled after writing a very rhetorical ‘History of the Kingdom of the Jews,’ as well as ‘Memoirs for a History of Philip V.,’ the latter work covering the period between 1699 and 1725.
