Viktor Blüthgen (1844–1920)
Blüthgen, August Edward Viktor (blüt’gen). A German novelist; born at Zörbig, near Halle, Jan. 4, 1844; died in 1920. He won high distinction as a writer for the young. Among his stories for boys and girls are: ‘The Rogues’ Looking-Glass’ (1876); ‘The Battle of Frogs and Mice’ (1878); and with these is to be classed the letterpress (verses) of O. Pletsch’s ‘Picture Books.’ Of novels and romances he is author of a great many: e.g., ‘The Peace-Breaker’ (1883); ‘The Step-Sister’ (1887); ‘Madame the Countess’ (1892).
