Walther von der Vogelweide (väl’ter fon der fō’gel-vī-dė). The most accomplished of the lyric poets of mediæval Germany flourished in the early part of the thirteenth century. He sings of love and nature with passion, simplicity, and great technical skill. He wrote many political verses as well. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
