Wilhelm von Chézy (18061865)
Chézy, Wilhelm von. A German novelist and historical essayist, son of Helmina von Chézy; born in Paris, March 21, 1806; died in Vienna, March 13, 1865. He acquitted himself creditably as a journalist, and wrote many popular tales: ‘The Wandering Pupil’ (1835), ‘The Six Noble Passions’ (1842); and ‘The Last Janissary’ (1853), among them; as well as ‘Chivalry in Picture and Word’ (1848).
