William Henry Hurlburt (1827–1895)

Hurlburt, William Henry. An American journalist; born at Charleston, SC, July 3, 1827; died at Cadenabbia, Sept. 4, 1895. After long journalistic experience in New York, he became editor-in-chief of New York World (1876–83). He wrote: ‘Gan-Eden’ (1854), travels in Cuba; ‘General McClellan and the Conduct of the War’ (1864), etc.
