William Osborn Stoddard (18351925)
Stoddard, William Osborn. An American journalist and miscellaneous writer; born in Homer, NY, Sept. 24, 1835; died in 1925. He was connected editorially with various journals, and was private secretary of President Lincoln, 1861–64. His publications include: ‘Verses of Many Days’ (1875); ‘Dab Kinzer’ (1881); ‘The Volcano under the City’ (1887); and ‘Lives of the Presidents’ (1886–90). He also wrote many books popular among boys.
