Xavier de Montépin (1826?1902)
Montépin, Xavier Aymon de (mô-tā-pa‘). A French novelist and dramatist; born at Apremont, Haute-Saône, 1826?; died at Paris, May 1, 1902. His works abound in sensational incidents and situations. He wrote nearly 100 novels, which have been translated into almost every language, the first being ‘The Knights of Lansquenet’ (1847); and, alone or with collaborators, about 30 plays.
