Epitaph
By Alexis Piron (16891773)
M
Life is indeed a narrow strait.
Once saw I clear, now dimmed the view;
Once wise was I, but now I’m blate.
I, step by step, have reached the pass
Which may be shunned by fool nor sage,
To go, where know I not, alas!
Adieu, Piron, and bon voyage!
