From “The Way Things Go”

YOU and all the bulk of the huge sky

Crush me flat, my body on the sand,

Until I fling out my hands to clutch the little grains;

Until I struggle to see the little stars;

Until I try to think

Of the names of little lifeless things

I can escape to, when this is over.
