The Fringe-bush

Harriet Monroe

From “Carolina Wood-cuts”

DELICATE white fringe-bush blossom,

Drooping among pale leaves

In the deepest wood,

Why do you hide your secret?

You are the ghost of a lilac

Revisiting the world.
