Elevator Man

Loureine Aber

From “City Lanes”

YOU in your little cage and I in mine,

Elevator man,

We will pierce the wide world’s heaven

Far as we can:

You to go up and down, beating up and down;

I to brush my wings off

On the walls of Merchant Town.
