Open a Door

May Thomas Milam

OPEN a door suddenly,

And you may see

Loved ones whom you call dead

Happy and free.

Listen—oh, stealthily!—

You’ll find it true,

These whom you weep for

Are pitying you.

Close the door softly,

Lest they may learn

They have been spied on,

And never return.
